What it actually rides like
Off the line it pulls just as hard as our bigger kits. Same 2000W motor, same 45A controller — the battery is smaller, not weaker, so the shove away from a stop is identical.
The bike stays a bike. At 5.5kg this is the lightest pack we sell, and it sits low on the down tube rather than filling the frame triangle. If you still want to lift the bike onto a rack, over a gate or up a flight of stairs, this is the kit.
It also charges quickest. Four to five hours from empty, against six or seven for the bigger packs. Easy to turn round between two rides in a day.
Range honestly. 17 to 25 miles on throttle alone, no pedalling. Pedal along on assist and 30 to 40 miles is normal. If your rides are regularly over 20 miles on throttle, step up to the 25Ah.
The honest limitation. This pack is rated 30A continuous and trips at 60A, against a motor that wants about 38A. Fine for normal riding where full power comes in bursts. If you intend to hold full throttle for long stretches, the 25Ah and 30Ah packs have more headroom.
Why people pick this one. The cheapest way into a 2000W bike, and the lightest. A 5.5kg pack on your down tube instead of 8.5kg in the frame triangle — you feel the difference the moment you pick the bike up.
Will it fit your bike?
Two bolts onto your frame's bottle bosses. Same 368mm length as the 25Ah pack, but 16mm shallower.
On a smaller frame the existing bottle bosses often sit in the wrong place for a 368mm battery. Rivnuts let you put threaded mounting points exactly where you need them.
- Offer the battery up first. Hold it against the down tube and mark where the two mounting bolts need to land. Check the pack still clears your cranks, front wheel and any suspension travel.
- Pick your rivnuts. M5 stainless is standard for bottle bosses. Buy the matching drill bit — usually 7mm for M5, but check the pack.
- Centre punch and drill. Punch each mark so the bit does not wander, then drill square to the tube. Go slowly and deburr the hole.
- Set the rivnut. Wind it onto a rivnut tool, push it into the hole and squeeze until it grips. No tool? Thread a bolt through a nut and washer, hold the bolt and turn the nut to pull the rivnut tight — slower, but it works.
- Bolt the mount on with a dab of threadlock and check it is solid before you fit the battery.
